Pokemon Go creator Niantic buys WebAR platform 8th Wall

Pokemon Go creator Niantic has purchased the WebAR platform 8th Wall and will use it for innovative technologies like augmented reality and virtual reality.

Not wanting to follow in the footsteps of Facebook, which is investing heavily in VR technologies like Meta, Niantic has opted to go with Apple’s vision. They are focusing on AR and not VR.

Tech luminaries like Tim Cook are recognizing that AR is the future and is better than VR. Just take a look at Apple's financial results: they've found success largely through their investments in AR.

This is a great deal for all avid 'metaverse' fans. One of the companies behind Pokemon Go and Pikmin Bloottest, Niantic is in the perfect place to tackle these challenges

8th Wall has been used by sponsored brands such as Microsoft, Pepsi, Porsche and Nike. They also work with more than 1/2 of the Fortune 50 companies.

The 8th Wall WebAR development platform has helped developers create more than 50k experiences in the last 4 years.

One of the most famous game developers has taken this step to empower Lightship developers with tools and tutorials so they can create better metaverse experiences for the users.

Lightship allows creators to bring their fictional universes to life. It is equipped with AR tools, which can be used to leverage Niantics tech & services and create powerful AR-enabled apps.

These application tools are useful in graphics design, marketing campaigns, and computer forensics.
