Nokia’s new G50 phone, priced at $299, will be coming to the US and several other markets. The device has a 6.82-inch HD+ display, 3 gigabytes of RAM, an audio jack, and an 18W fast charger.

This G-series phone is identical to the Nokia X20, which was announced in April 2021. However, this time the G50 has a bigger screen and battery. There’s also an edition of G50 for North American markets (AT&T and T-Mobile). This phone doesn’t have the best reception, but it does come with the faster 5G Sub 6 network which means you’ll get at least 5G data speeds on T-Mobile. But, to enjoy Verizon’s mmWave network and indoor reception on AT&T, this may not be the best choice

Like other phones priced at around $300, the Nokia G50 comes with a Snapdragon 480 chip, so you’ll see some slowdowns and lags while you play some games. This phone has 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage capacity, and a microSD port for storing your photos or sideloading apps. It has a slightly bigger 6.82-inch HD+ display with 450 nits of brightness and a v-shaped notch around the front 8-megapixel camera.

On the back of the Nokia G50 is a triple-camera array arranged in a circular configuration. You’ll find the 48-megapixel standard camera the most useful, but the 5-megapixel Ultrawide and 2-megapixel depth sensor cameras can also add a lot to your shots. It should be noted that photos captured with these lower quality sensors will look quite different from what you get from photos captured by the higher quality sensors. Not only can it help with blurry videos from Tik Tok, but its front-facing camera also has a Night Selfie mode to brighten up low-light pictures.

Nokia’s new G50

HMD Global, the company behind Nokia phones, has announced that the Nokia G50 will ship with Android 11 and receive two years of OS updates and three years of monthly security updates. Instead of tossing your device after a few years, we recommend recycling them and starting new. This way you can use your phone until it’s past its prime to be more eco-friendly, while also being able to enjoy the features until you feel comfortable upgrading.

The Nokia G50 comes preloaded with Spotify for your music needs and ExpressVPN to keep your online content secure. The device is available in Ocean Blue or Midnight Sun colors, and it will start shipping on September 30th. Check it out now at Nokia.com!
