Ukraine DAO organization by Nadya, the co-founder of Pussy Riot comes forward amid the Russia-Ukraine war for funding.
The situation between Russia and Ukraine is getting intense day by day that is putting people across the globe in deep concern. People are trying to be sympathetic and help the affected groups in whatever ways possible. Even the popular Russian punk band under the name of Pussy Riot has also stepped forward to raise funds for the masses in Ukraine.
The more noticeable thing is that this group of activists and music artists has resorted to NFT or Non-Fungible Token sales to provide such help. The organization aims to collect NFTs and sell the same by working together with active crypto groups for the sake of Ukrainian civilians.
It is reported that a DAO was made the medium of this purpose, namely the UkraineDAO that was released this Saturday. This organization was launched by Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, a member of the Pussy Riot band to collect NFTs that will be further put on sale to raise funds for Ukraine.
Pussy Riot To Contribute To Ukrainian Funding
The band confirmed the same by posting from their official Twitter handle with the words,
“Welcome to @Ukraine_DAO. “Our goal is to raise funds to donate to Ukrainian civilian organizations who help those suffering from the war that Putin started in Ukraine. We’ll be buying an NFT of the Ukrainian flag. Much support and love to Ukraine.”
According to many sources, UkraineDAO is expected to make a sale of 10,000 NFTs that will be about the flag of Ukraine as the NFT souvenir. All the contributions are said to go to some non-profit organizations; Kyiv’s Return Alive Foundation and the Proliska are two to name. These organizations are channelizing their efforts in supporting people in the protesting areas of Donetsk and Luhansk.
As far as the idea of creating a DAO is in question, reports by Decrypt reveal that it was Alona Shevchenko who came up with this helping concept. She even told Decrypt that she appreciated the DAO’s existence and also said that, ‘Creating a DAO is a good way to get international and Web3 attention and give the Ukrainian people a voice.
This is exactly what DAOs are for, making change offline in the real world harnessing the power of blockchain.’ Even Pussy Riot’s founder supported the concept of DAO by posting on Twitter that, ‘crypto is borderless, permitless and it’s so much easier and faster than fiat.’
Born in Ukraine, she is an activist and is keenly involved in the revolutionary Web3 portal lately. Reports further say that Alona contacted the band Pussy Riot and the member Nadezhda Tolokonnikova to form the organization UkraineDAO.
Trippy Labs is also one of the associating members of this organization that wishes to collect funds for Ukraine by way of selling NFTs. Crypto and NFTs have a huge user base in Ukraine. Elliptic analytics firm has noted that the digital currency transactions have already hit the mark of $4 million since the Russia-Ukraine situation was set on.
